Ingredients

Pie Crust
  • 1 9-inch pie crust store-bought or homemade
Filling
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 3 large eggs lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves toasted for extra flavor
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, melted butter, eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  3. Stir in the pecan halves and chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  4. Pour the filling mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading evenly.
  5. Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly soft. The pie will continue to set as it cools.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool completely for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Notes

For a glossy finish, brush the pecans on top with a bit of corn syrup before baking. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
