Ingredients
  

For the Banana Brownies
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ripe bananas mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/4 tsp salt
For the Brown Butter Frosting
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter browned
  • 1 cup powdered sugar sifted
  • 2 tbsp milk add more as needed for consistency
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla extract; whisk until combined.
  3. Stir in mashed bananas until well blended.
  4. Add flour and salt, mixing just until incorporated. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.
  7. To make the frosting, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Continue cooking until it turns golden brown and releases a nutty aroma. Remove from heat immediately.
  8. Whisk in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread the frosting over cooled brownies and allow to set before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon into the batter or add chopped walnuts on top before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
